A Bit About Us

STEP UP is a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to uplifting underrepresented populations through education and health literacy. We offer community-driven programs to promote academic success, healthcare navigation skills, and long-term empowerment. Our programs target immigrant and refugee populations, underserved youth, and women from equity-deserving communities. From classroom workshops to community seminars, STEP UP is here to walk with you every step of the way.

 

STEP UP started with a small idea when our founder Tuana wanted to give Turkish children the support and guidance she wish she had when she immigrated to Canada, with efforts to support youth learning English in underserved communities. Over time, our scope has expanded to address broader barriers faced by immigrants, refugees, and underrepresented populations. Our programs now include healthcare literacy seminars, STEM career exploration workshops, women’s health awareness sessions, and continuing English support. Our mission remains rooted in empowering the next generation through knowledge, access, and support.
